A blog site for Kimota94 (that's me) to use for topics that interest me. Those topics originally included: comic books, Major League Baseball, the music and genius of Peter Gabriel and Magnolia Electric Company, the odd work-related topic like Agile Project Delivery, and any other little thing that comes to mind on any given day. Lately, it's mostly been that last one!

A President Who Actually Encourages Science?!
After 8 years of Flat Earth-like ignorance and willful stupidity emanating from the White House, this sort of thing can almost take your breath away. Wow! If post-19th century thinking like this isn't curtailed, pretty soon Americans will stop believing that HIV is just God's punishment for homosexuality, that all of our natural resources are boundless, and that the planet is only six thousand years old. And then what the Hell will the Conservatives ever campaign on?
Wow, that is seriously a huge change in direction! Fox News must be having conniptions over this. It is so interesting to see a President keep his campaign promises...and without a majority in Congress. Truly amazing. On the downside though I'm already worrying about Republicans getting back in office as they will then have a mandate to undo all of this. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteI was pretty amazed by some of the negative comments reported on CBC news. I guess I shouldn't be, but they are using the tired tactic of saying "permitting this will increase abortions" and "these embryos represent a life, even those that can't be taken to term." There is a big difference between making a market out of something versus drawing boundaries.
ReplyDeleteNow the researchers in Canada who aren't getting any money from government funding have a reason to go to the US to do work.
ReplyDeleteWhat this tells me is that the Canadian government should be more mindful of research in Canada. They are neglecting it in an age when the research economy will be important.
