Latest Sign Of The Apocalypse

Surely the statement that President Obama felt compelled to make this morning on the topic of his birth certificate qualifies as some kind of doomsday warning, right? How else to explain this development at a time when the United States is embroiled in two wars (three, if they're still fighting in Iraq), their economy is floundering, and the planet's climate is going to Hell in a handbasket while a majority of Americans deny the very existence of climate change (not to mention evolution, for good measure)?

No sane country should ever need its leader to take time out of his schedule to say the following:

"But we’re not going to be able to do it if we are distracted. We’re not going to be able to do it if we spend time vilifying each other. We’re not going to be able to do it if we just make stuff up and pretend that facts are not facts. We’re not going to be able to solve our problems if we get distracted by sideshows and carnival barkers."

Worse yet, no country that's not absolutely apeshit crazy would possibly continue to waste time on this topic afterward. But you know they will...

(and sorry about calling you "Shirley" off the top there...)
