Just In Time For The Movie: A Great Silver Surfer Tale!
I'd been a little worried about how JMS would handle Norrin Radd in this 4-issue Silver Surfer: Requiem mini-series, but I really shouldn't have. Straczynski strikes a perfect note in the debut issue out this week, giving us a Silver Surfer who's now having to face his own mortality for the first time since he became the herald of Galactus, long ago. The scenes between the Surfer, Reed and Sue are just the right mixture of raw emotion and awe, as we're reminded of just how much they've been through together, and how alien Norrin Radd really is. Publishing such an excellent tale that recalls the pivotal events of Fantastic Four # 48 through 50, mere weeks before the Fantastic Four: Rise of the Surfer movie arrives at theatres, is nothing short of brilliant timing.
I really, really enjoyed this comic, and can hardly wait for # 2 to arrive, especially after seeing the cover image for it at the end of # 1...

Does JMS ever disappoint?
