In the official announcement today, ABC reports that Lost will run for six seasons, not five. (I'd previously linked to article claiming that it would end after Season Five.) However, with each of the remaining seasons limited to 16 episodes - as opposed to the 24-ish that the first three seasons have had - it amounts to about the same number of future episodes. It'll just take us three more years to get there, instead of only two. Personally, I'm fine with that (delayed gratification and all that). It's also mentioned in today's announcement that each upcoming season will run uninterrupted, which is great news!
That leaves us about 50 new episodes of Lost to look forward to, as of now. And believe me, I am!
