It was only 13 episodes long - half a normal season - but we still finished Battlestar Galactica Season One in a ridiculously short amount of time: a little over a weekend! We started watching it Thursday of last week and just finished the 2-part season finale tonight.
Lots of drama in the final fifteen minutes, as typically happens in the best finales. It leaves you wondering where they'll go in Season Two with so many plotlines now in flux, and whether somehow the old status quo will be restored - I always hope not - or a new one established.
Some things grated on me - the dangling plotlines like the Cylon detection test that no one in the fleet seemed to care enough about to put any controls around and the crew chief who knew that his girlfriend was acting crazy, including stealing munitions, but instead of doing anything about it simply broke up with her! - and the introduction of the X-O's wife Ellen felt like a shark-jumping moment, but overall it was a lot of fun and quite habit-forming.
Now we just have to find someone who has Season Two on DVD for us to borrow....
