Cancelled shows

Vicki just showed me the Globe and Mail that included a page on TV shows that are doing well, and some not so well. Six Degrees and Kidnapped were both cancelled (won't really miss either too much) but I was intrigued to read that the latter will finish off the storyline by streaming a few final episodes on the Internet! Is this the future of broadcast television?
