Loved Tonight's Lost!

Backstory on Desmond, but done in the most original of ways... loved it!

Time travel, reminiscent of Billy Pilgrim in Slaughterhouse Five or the events of Babylon 5 episodes "War Without End (Parts 1 & 2)"... loved it!!

The twist at the end, as to who Desmond is trying to save... loved it!!!

Nice to see this show's come back with a vengence. It was worth the wait! And from what we saw (muted) of next week's scenes, it looks like they're at least advertising "big mysteries revealed", so that should appeal to the A.D.D. fans.

I loved the episode too -Desmond adds some new depth to the show. Kind of fits in with the previous episode, where the guard was reading "A brief History of Time". The show is apparently suffering in the ratings because of its new timeslot... hmm... lots of references to time? A fitting theme it is.

Was it just me, or last week did they really advertise 3 of the island's biggest mysteries to be revealed on the 21st?

Having seen the episode, what could they possibly have been referring to?

What Jack's tattoo says?

Whether Ben would develop an infection from his surgery?

And what Juliet's back looks like?

Personally, I'm afraid Lost has just about jumped the shark. Probably it was inevitable to see it become just a nighttime soap opera, because when they reveal the big mysteries the series is done. But the fact that they're lying to the viewers and promising to reveal mysteries in a desperate attempt to keep people watching says to me the series is about done anyway.

It's too bad they couldn't end it with dignity, on a high note, instead of trying to drag out the inevitable just as long as possible.

Fortunately for my enjoyment of the show, I like it for a lot more than just seeing mysteries resolved. If that's all it had going for it, then clearly it wouldn't be satisfying anyone and I probably would've given up on it long ago. The countdown to its return blog posts I did over a 2 week period indicate many of the things I love about the show so I won't repeat them here.
