Unlike the Indy blowout of KC earlier this evening, the Dallas-Seattle game had several lead changes, a fair bit of scoring, and an amazing finish!
Dallas had a chance to score a go-ahead field goal, down 21-20, with just over a minute left. This came up after a review overturned a ball placement to move it back half a yard, resulting in a 4th and 1 instead of 1st and goal. On the field goal attempt, the QB Tony Romo was the holder and couldn't get the ball down cleanly, so the kicker couldn't even make an attempt. Romo grabbed the ball and made a mad scramble for the endzone, and got within 3 yards of making it before the ball was knocked loose and recovered around the 2 yard line by Seattle. The Seahawks then couldn't quite run out the clock before punting the ball back to Dallas, still down 21-20. This gave the Cowboys one final chance to salvage the game, but only with about 2 seconds left and no timeouts. One desperate Hail Mary pass attempt was made by Romo into the endzone, but it fell to the ground and the game ended.
The thing I liked about it being Romo who flubbed the hold for the field goal is that, usually when a field goal or extra point attempt goes awry, I always feel for the QB who's done his job in getting the team to within scoring position, and then some special teams guy blows it for them. But here it was the QB himself who was responsible, so it seemed more just to me.
Final Score: Seattle 21, Dallas 20
Hinckley's now up 2-0 in predictions to my 1-1, the rat bastard. But on the other hand, the Steelers didn't make the playoffs and now the other team I hate - the Cowboys - are out, so any of the remaining teams are good to go as far as I'm concerned! Plus, I just realized: this means No More Terrell Owens bullshit!!
