Favourite Comic Covers Part 11
My second Avengers cover, but this one's by legend Barry Smith (now Barry Windsor-Smith) who's most well-known for providing the gorgeous artwork for the first 24 issues of Conan in the early 70s.
This issue marks the end of possibly the greatest multi-year run of any comic title I've ever read, starting back around issue # 50. It also ends a 3-issue story that was illustrated by Smith, in which the Avengers end up having to travel to Olympus to save the Greek gods, including Hercules. As the blurb "And we do mean Assemble" suggests, every character who'd ever been an Avenger, through those first 100 issues, is shown on the cover and featured in the story, which was pretty darned cool at the time!

I remember you showing me this cover a while ago (or maybe you had it as your wallpaper on your old laptop).
It is a very cool cover.
He's a very cool artist! ;-)
